house rules

Guests & Occupancy
  • A maximum of six (6) overnight guests are permitted at the property at any one time, and guests are responsible for ensuring this limit is complied with.
  • A responsible adult (18 years or over) must be on-site at all times when children are present.
  • No unauthorised people are permitted to stay overnight.
  • Please be considerate of neighbouring properties at all times, including during arrival and departure. Noise should generally cease by 9pm every night.
  • This is not a ‘party house’ — parties and similar gatherings are strictly prohibited, as are Hens’ or Bucks’ groups.
  • Bookings that are deemed inappropriate, fall across Schoolies dates, or are suspected Hens/Bucks bookings may be refused or cancelled.
  • Pets are not permitted unless the property is specifically listed as pet-friendly (certified guide, hearing and assistance dogs are always welcome).
  • Where pets are permitted, guests must ensure they do not cause a nuisance to neighbouring properties.
  • A minimum of 2 car parking spaces is provided per unit. Please show consideration to neighbours and other vehicles.
  • Guests are responsible for any fines or penalties incurred from parking where street or metered parking restrictions apply.

Please dispose of all garbage and recycling in the bins provided. General waste bins go out weekly and recycling bins go out fortnightly — if you’re unsure of the schedule, just ask us.

  • Please leave the property in a clean and tidy condition, with all fittings and chattels returned to their original position.
  • Please let us know of any damage or disrepair as soon as possible. Any damage, repairs or excessive cleaning attributable to your stay will be charged to you.

Guests who refuse to follow this Code of Conduct or who cause a nuisance will first receive a verbal warning. If the issue is not corrected, the booking may be terminated with 2 hours’ notice at the Property Manager’s discretion, and no refund will be given.

Emergency & safety

In a genuine emergency — anything serious, unexpected and dangerous that threatens life, health or property — call 000 immediately.

For a property emergency, such as a water leak, call the owner/letting agent immediately on 0409 029 615.

A fire evacuation plan and a floor plan of the property (kitchen, dining room, laundry, outdoor clothes facilities and common areas) are displayed in the unit.

Cyclones & extreme weather

Cyclones are a normal part of life in tropical Queensland and are a regular occurrence during the wet season.

If a cyclone or other extreme weather event affects the Whitsunday area during your stay, please refer to:

If you lose power, first check whether it might be a local outage.

You can check the Ergon Energy Outage Finder here. If the outage lasts more than an hour, please let us know.

We’re in tropical Queensland, so there are plenty of fauna big and small. We encourage you to keep the screens over open doors to minimise mosquitoes coming into the house. We have local geckos you may see from time to time, they are harmless and will keep to themselves.

Very occasionally you may come across a snake. If you do, please don’t attempt to kill, handle or provoke it. Stay calm, move away, and call a licensed snake catcher.

Frequently asked questions

house guide

Can we get a late check-out?

We try to accommodate late check-outs whenever we can — just let us know the day before your departure and we’ll confirm if it’s possible.

If we can’t approve a late check-out, please vacate by 10am, as late departure fees may apply. If you’re leaving earlier than 10am, please let us know too, as it helps our housekeeping team enormously.

Where is the pool?

The pool entrance is a short walk back down the driveway, on the left-hand side.

No glassware is allowed in the pool area — plastic ‘glassware’ is provided in your kitchen cupboards.

Please also be considerate of other guests using the pool.

We’ve run out of toilet paper / towels — help!

In the master bedroom wardrobe, on the top shelf, you’ll find a big blue bag with spare towels, toilet paper, kitchen paper, a scourer, tea towels, dishwasher tablets, laundry detergent and garbage bags.

Please use those to tide you over, and let us know so we can restock or bring you extras of whatever you need.

How do we work the air conditioning?

Check the settings on the remote control — the snowflake symbol needs to be visible to cool the room. If the remote screen is blank or dull, the batteries may need replacing.

If the wall unit still isn’t responding, the house circuit may have tripped — head to the garage, find the circuit board, and make sure all switches are in the ‘on’ position.

If that doesn’t fix it, please text us on 0482 967 889. Please turn off the air conditioning in all rooms when you depart.

The wifi isn’t working — what should we do?

Locate the modem, turn it off at the wall, wait a minute, then turn it back on. Search for the house network on your device and wait a few minutes for it to reconnect, then try your original login and password.

If that still doesn’t work, try connecting to another house’s network using the password ‘Elementa 2024’.

If none of this works, please text us on 0482 967 889.

How does the stove top work?

To turn on: Make sure it’s switched on at the wall (under the kitchen window), then press and hold the on/off button for 5 seconds, choose an element and slide the bar to set the heat.

To turn off: Slide the element bar back to zero, then press the on/off button.

How does the BBQ work?

Electric: Check it’s turned on at the wall, the red trip switch is pushed in, and the heat is turned up.

Gas: Check the gas bottle isn’t empty. If you’re still having trouble, please text us on 0482 967 889 and we’ll sort it out.

The washing machine, dryer or dishwasher isn’t working

Please text us on 0482 967 889 and let us know — we’ll arrange for someone to take a look as soon as possible.

Why is there no electricity?

A few things to check:

  • Make sure the appliance itself is switched on.
  • Check the circuit board in the garage to see if a switch has tripped (and flick it back on)
  • Check whether there’s a local power outage via the Ergon Outage Finder.

If the power has been out for more than an hour, please text us on 0482 967 889.

Where is the garage remote control?

The garage door remote is on the shelf near the front door.

Please leave it, along with your door keys, at the property when you depart — we know it’s tempting to keep as a souvenir, but we really need it back!

If the remote has been taken, you can open and close the garage door using the button on the garage wall.

Let us know on 0482 967 889 if there are any problems.
